Moores estate agent staff in Oakham have understanding of Alzheimer’s (Article from 2019)

Staff at an estate agents in Oakham have received training from a dementia champion so they can have a better understanding of the disease.

Moores, which also has branches in Uppingham and Stamford, has been supporting the Alzheimer’s Society this year with a host of fundraising initiatives including not charging for professional valuations.

Kaybee Developments donated as part of this.

Staff decided to take their fundraising one step further and become dementia friends – an initiative run by the Alzheimer’s Society to give people an insight into what those living with the disease face.

Stevie Jackson, a dementia champion, visited Moores in High Street, Oakham, came to speak to staff. She also collected a cheque for £250 on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Jenny Moore, who owns the estate agents with husband Vernon, said: “It’s a reality that we deal with more and more people being affected with dementia and when it comes to selling or buying a house, we would like those affected and their families to trust that we will deal with their specific needs as sensitively as possible.”

All Moores branches are also a safe place to go for anyone feeling uncertain or lost.
